Plant and transplant

Moved some tomato starts over into 2” pots, and ordered some more pots that size so I can do the rest and the peppers.

Planted squash seeds inside, and okra, and eggplant, replanted the peppers that had not come up, and a sweet million tomato.

I put some new pea seeds in that bed, but I have a feeling they are just being eaten up by something (vole? Mole?) from underneath, so I also planted a few in a pot up by the house.

New 2024 Plan – with Fence

Working to transition the annual beds all to the “West” beds so that we can fence them in to protect them from last year’s doe disaster. I’m also hoping to downsize a little– with only 9 beds in annual rotation. This will take rebuilding the old raspberry bed and building one more raised bed down below, but I hope to transition the “south” beds to perennials that need less care. I’d love to have more space for the thornless blackberries and asparagus.

We have had a LOT of activity on the game camera, even though there’s not much planted. Lots of bunnies and raccoon, and the occasional opossum.

So yeah

Honestly, this year was so disappointing that I didn’t want to record it. Deer. Raccoons. ROBINS. Grosbeaks. Stupid weather patterns. (Warm weather started late- then immediately got over 90 then cold again.)

Green beans recovered after I fenced them in against deer, but other than that and some excellent carrots everything was a bummer.

Here’s hoping 2024 is better.

Yesterday we pulled the tomatoes (all green) and planted garlic. Duganski & Italian late & music (in that order starting from shed).

Green tomatoes went in a box, and I dug up some of the peppers and bagged them for the greenhouse.
