Tiny squash starting. Good pea production. Green tomatoes. 3 ripe strawberries (in pot). Finally warm enough for the irrigation.
Last week
It’s still been cold and gloomy. Beans are coming up, green sungolds are starting, snap peas are getting gobbled up. Hoping for sunshine and slightly higher temps this week. (Also, I planted basil starts and beet greens in the beds, and moved the mystery tomato next to the ground cherries.) oh and spruce tips finally came. Picked the tips off all the favas because aphids started showing up.
Things are starting to happen…
I got the first snap pea a couple of weeks ago, and a few more today. Some onions are bolting, beans are coming up, most of the seedlings are flourishing. Scapes are coming soon!
Planted peppers and tomatoes
Planted all the peppers and remaining tomatoes today.
Also moved out plum tomato and some okra bags.
Beans and flowers
Planted beans and nasturtium and marigold. I’ll pop probably put the remaining tomatoes and peppers out on Monday or Tuesday. Also transplanted little zucchini starts in the squash bed, and direct seeded a few delicata next to the starts that don’t look great. (Note for next year- don’t keep them in the greenhouse so long!) I put marigold in the fava bed to hopefully fight the black flies, and nasturtium in the bean beds. Also planted a few more peas (peas are FINALLY blossoming).
It’s been a dreary and cold spring. They say 10degrees cooler than normal. I think the kale and beets and carrots like it, though.
Finally tomato
Planted a legend, nova, and sungold in south a, and one nova in the lowest new bed. The weather has still been unseasonably cold, but looks like it will only get to 48 degrees a few nights this week.
I moved things around in the greenhouse and planted a plum tomato in one of the larger planting bags. I trimmed the old greenhouse shelves down to get myself another layer.
Some more progress.
Moved the remaining seedlings
Ugh. This spring is the pits. I moved the rest of the squash out to the garden in season starters, but the rest of the summer starts are still hiding in the greenhouse.
Repotted the peppers in the greenhouse, and restarted some ground cherry seeds because ACK they didn’t do well.
Here’s some progress. Nights are still getting below 45 degrees. Ridiculous.
Pollinating the lemon tree
Call me a beee
Uppotted tomatoes
Planted the rest of the okra and added a heater to the green house.
Moved some things out
Moved some squash to a bed with season starters
Put some micro greens in a covered thingy to see if they sprout in the greenhouse
Plus new beds and a progress shot (:
