Yay Food

Pulled up the first few onions (the driest) and have them curing in baskets

Same with some of the garlic

The varieties in West E are MASSIVE. All of the things I’ve pulled look healthy (:

Got the first few yellow beans, and a couple of sun gold

A couple of baby onions and leeks are coming up in the seeded bed.

Did a bunch of cooking. Raspberry coulis, sauted garbanzo peas zucchini and greens, carrot tops (boiling water 3 minutes) garlic garbanzo cilantro lemon juice hummus, roasted carrots patty pan beets onions, fresh bread… yum.

Outside Stuff!

we finally got out and worked in the garden. I took a couple of retired brew buckets and planted spinach and corn salad in the raised bed mix.

P helped me turn over and amend the soil in South A to finish filling it with onions. We’ll see if the seeds do anything. The next section is redwing starts from the Grange, then Ringmaster from Territorial. I planted them pretty close (especially on the edges) to harvest some early as green onion and/or small ones.

I also got some peas in… the robins literally started cackling at each other when I started planting. Hopefully the baskets will keep those bastards away.

P put some harvest supreme in the asparagus bed. Here’s some progress…

We also took Cooper outside briefly… he’s not doing great so we want to give him all the fun.

Weedy weekend

(Please forgive my typos. I’m juggling kittens as I write this.) The weeds are really out of control, so I went after the ones on the slope on Sunday. Filled up the big compost bin- /:

Now you can see the hydrangeas and roses that are about to bloom, and this pretty plant from the buy nothing group.

Some delightful creature devoured all but one of my winter squash starts. Grrr. I put a couple more seeds in the ground, and am starting some more inside.

I also planted a bunch of things to eat as babygreens. We love the Swiss chard.

I transplanted some leafy starts in South A.

Progress

This is one of my favorite places in the garden. Jungle-like with artichoke plants as big as my car.
