There were just a couple of peas coming up under there- I’m pretty sure that a v/mole ate my seeds. I sprouted some in the greenhouse and transplanted them in the rebuilt/repaired bed.
Along with the ones I planted in the box, hopefully I’ll get some peas out of it.
I repotted most of the seedlings and moved them to the greenhouse (heater set to 52).
I think the pods>small pots was the way to go. Other than plant light misfire, the tomatoes got big and strong.
I potted one orange pepper plant and brought it inside.
P planted 6 asparagus crowns in a furrow tonight. I replanted peas because the others were not sprouting… too old?
Planted carrots and beets and moved some blackberry today. Replanted peas that haven’t come up
Planted (from shed side) Sugar Bon and Sugar Sprint Peas.
I planted tomatoes (in waterwalls), tomatillos, and put more bean and pea seeds out (stupid robins). I also put some sunflower seeds by the lower wall and P got me an artichoke! I did buy one graft San Marzano tomato that’s huge, a banana pepper, and some lithodora (that p planted on the slopes.)
It’s been coolish, but Soil temps are over 60, and we have some warm weather coming up. Planted green beans, wax beans, and some marigolds in west e. I put seeds I saved from last year on the corner nearest the neighbors house to see if they grow as well as the purchased ones.
Planted runner beans and Romano beans and nasturtium in south d- where the broad bean favas failed to over winter. I guess I’ll try them again next year? The “cover crop” favas look great, so maybe I’ll have some small beans again. All new beans went under robin baskets.
Added a few more peas to the pea bed, and put kale seeds around the outside.
Transplanted the last couple of late planted peppers, and up potted two tomato sprouts and moved them to the greenhouse, where everything is looking good on a seed mat on the ground.
P tore out the raspberries the other day, and he covered the bed with cardboard and grass. We’re hoping to reclaim for asparagus (?) next year.
I also planted some more peas and cilantro-neither of which have started sprouting yet- and some dill in the greenhouse.
P planted a couple of winter blooming heathers next to the plum trees to hopefully encourage pollinators.
The spinach and arugula are starting to come up in the greenhouse, excited about that!
Today we prepped beds and planted onion starts and peas. P also fertilized the asparagus. I planted spinach and arugula and cilantro to sprout in the greenhouse. As an experiment I also planted green peas from Trader Joe’s that sprouted in the refrigerated package… plan to eat those as pea shoots.
I also put clover seed in the mole hills.
It’s been too hot lately- we had a week over 90- and I’ve been hiding out from the sun. Some plants are very happy though.
I cut the favas and pulled the beans. I think I want to try a different variety and next year, though.
I also pulled the rest of the garlic to cure.
It was the first good sized harvest- with Romano beans, patty pan, zucchini, yellow squash, plump blueberries, thornless blackberries, and thinned out carrots. And some nice sized artichokes.
The flowers are pretty too
Also- I planted the last straggler pepper into a bag, and moved one of the lavender stems I’m trying to propagate into a little pot.
