Harvest pics for today
Pulled the remaining onions today. The wallawallas were definitely the winner in size, even though many bolted. Also got a handful of raspberries and a few peas.
Got a couple of strawberries, a bunch of rhubarb, started pulling the onions for curing, more garlic scapes, thinned some carrots, 2 more sungold tomatoes, a bunch of snap peas…
The runner beans are starting to flower- the green beans are still going slow and look a little sun bleached. The favas have some burst pods and need more attention- may rethink for next year. also, there are a couple tomatillo pods forming.
First sungold. Also had a bunch more snap peas, some garlic scapes, and a couple of asparagus.
Lots of garlic scapes, a few more bolted onions, a hand full of strawberries, some peas
I also fertilized and pulled weeds and thinned tomatoes. Tired.
I got the first snap pea a couple of weeks ago, and a few more today. Some onions are bolting, beans are coming up, most of the seedlings are flourishing. Scapes are coming soon!
Planted a legend, nova, and sungold in south a, and one nova in the lowest new bed. The weather has still been unseasonably cold, but looks like it will only get to 48 degrees a few nights this week.
I moved things around in the greenhouse and planted a plum tomato in one of the larger planting bags. I trimmed the old greenhouse shelves down to get myself another layer.
Some more progress.
Planted onions (west f from shed : ringmaster, redwing, walla walla) and peas (west d sugar sprint and bon) and moved those little naturalized garlic over to south a
Good haul today- tomatoes are still looking ok- we might have some cool weather coming up, so I’ll keep an eye on them. (I’m pulling the tomatoes early to ripen inside, anything orange).
The jalapeños never got very big, but they look plump and healthy. I’ll need to remember to pull them before a cold snap.
Look at this enormous marigold! It’s from whatever seeds I sprinkled last year at the base of the rocks.
Squash are getting powdery mildew. Happens every year. Delicata look established, which is good. Prolly have another week or so of summer squash.
The okra is still going!
Peas, kale, and favas are getting started.
Looks like it’s almost grape time- we’re going to make jelly this year.
Planted and harvested a bunch. Made pasta salad, roasted carrots, and carrot top pesto (garlic, lime juice, cilantro, garbanzo)
Planted more carrots. Btw the musico carrots were the clear winner this year. Purple snap did nothing (well, I got one.)
Planted fava, kale (micro kale hopefully works ok), chard in South C
Planted peas, and kale in West E (fava bed)
Planted arugula, spinach, mache in plant bags. Fertilized most of everything.
