Tomatoes! Not a million, but some! Zucchini, Roma and wax beans, 2nd rhubarb flush (I’ll be making rhubarb orange zucchini bread later). The water has been at 1 hour but things look a little dry so I turned up to 1:30.

Hot as hell
We’re in the midst of a record heat wave- it was 100 yesterday, 104 today, and 111 (!!) tomorrow. The tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers are VERY PLEASED. I just wish they had fruit to ripen!
Potato flower!
And we’re still in the strawberries.
In the ground!
Put out all the tomatoes and peppers, pulled season starters and added cages. P put everything on drip.
Including the bags of okra and salad sprouts.
Put some tomatoes out
Planted 2 tomatillos and a nova and sungold that were getting too big for the greenhouse.
Removed the season starters from the squash (that said “transplant after threat of frost has passed”)
Replanted some green beans cause birds are bastards.
Sprout update
Most of the tomatoes have come up, still waiting on the peppers.
Two slicing tomatoes

Tomatillo salsa time
Tomatillo salsa day. I froze two big ziplocs of tomatillos (in skin) and that made about a double batch of salsa.

Oh Deer
So, I knew we were taking a risk clearing out some of the blackberry without putting up a fence between the garden and the field- and after the field got mowed right up to our property a furry friend starting grazing- specifically on the yellow beans, green beans, and raspberry– although now he’s moved on to the beets and carrot tops. Les sigh.
He has lots of options though, so P put in poles to make the beans grow higher.
Todays haul wasn’t half bad.
Canning and salsa
We had a good haul of green beans, so today we canned them. (This picture was a little too much for the full load. I’ll cook the rest tonight).
And now we’re roasting tomatillos, onions, and jalapenos for salsa (fresh and frozen). Apparently I’ve been letting the tomatillos get overripe (yellow) so we did a mix.
